Great Ormond Street Hospital : Biophilia Workshop Kits

I was initially commissioned by Great Ormand Street Arts team to develop some bespoke workshops to deliver in person at the hospital with their patients and families. However, COVID restrictions meant we had to alter the plans so I was invited to create kits with accompanying illustrated guides.

The theme for these workshops was Biophilia - which means an affinity with living things. As well as the nature theme, it was of the utmost importance that the items and packaging in the kits were kind to the environment. All of the kit materials were natural, reusable or recyclable.

These kits are designed to inspire nature connection, relaxation, awaken the senses and celebrate the joy of learning something new and explore the impact of nature and creativity on health.

I devised two workshops and corresponding kits, for slightly different ages.

A tactile multi-sensory activity, to connect with different natural materials, exploring natural relief and textures and later adding an essential oil of their choice.
